Botox®
Are you noticing more wrinkles on your face and neck? Do you want a quick and easy way to restore a full, youthful, radiant appearance? Botox® and dermal fillers may be the answer you’re searching for.
Injectable fillers are meant to be used in various parts of the body (face, earlobes, hands, buttocks) to augment existing soft tissues. Depending on the product and location, they are injected in different depths and varying volumes.
Botox® and other injectable neurotoxins (such as Xeomin®, Dysport®, Jeuveau®) can relax dynamic wrinkles like the horizontal line under the nose often formed by a wide grin, improve a gummy smile, help the “bunny lines” at the base of the nose, soften the neck “bands,” upturn the down-turned corners of the mouth to achieve more chin projection, and even treat migraine headaches and TMJ (temporomandibular joint) dysfunction. Botox® treatments can also be used alongside our PiXel8-RF (RF Microneedling) to treat excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis.

Botox® & Filler Candidates
For nearly every desire and improvement, there’s a filler to match.
Many patients wish to have facial lines and wrinkles softened. If you’re bothered by the lines on your forehead, between your eyebrows, near your outer eyes (called “crow’s feet”) and the vertical lines around your mouth (called “smoker’s lines”) then Botox® and dermal fillers can help tremendously.
There are other uses for neurotoxins like Botox® as well. Patients who have undergone drastic weight loss often rely on fillers to add volume to their facial features, and botulinum toxin injections have also been shown to treat chronic migraines, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), overactive bladder, cervical dystonia, and muscle spasms in numerous clinical trials.
If you struggle with any of these issues or would simply like to discuss your aesthetic goals, reach out to our talented Pinnacle plastic surgeons today and discover if Botox® and fillers are right for you!
Botox® & Fillers FAQs
There are over 40 muscles at work in your face. As these muscles are consistently flexed when you speak and make facial expressions, dynamic wrinkles like forehead lines, crow’s feet, and smile lines form. A Botox® therapy injection uses the botulinum toxin to inhibit the synaptic release of the acetylcholine neurotransmitter. This stops the contractions of these facial muscles, resulting in smoother and more youthful skin.
Generally, Botox® treatment can be performed in just a few minutes, with no downtime for the recipient. It can be repeated as often as necessary. While a Botox® injection is considered a one-time treatment, we recommend Botox® maintenance every three months (or four times per year). This allows you to see the ultimate correction and maintain your beautiful results by keeping target muscles relaxed—along with the wrinkles they cause.
Fillers are a group of products intended to smooth the contours of the face, minimize static lines and wrinkles, and restore lost volume. There are many different products on the market, so it’s important to only trust a professional trained in the art of plastic surgery to place these products.
The hyaluronic acid fillers, along with Radiesse® and Bellafill®, mainly soften and add volume. Other products, such as Sculptra® Aesthetic and Radiesse® (to some degree) stimulate your body to make its own collagen.
Depending on the product, location, and desired outcomes, fillers are injected in different depths and varying volumes into one or several locations. Appointments are generally quick and easy with almost immediate results–two factors that contribute to the wide popularity of filler products. Slight bruising, swelling, redness, and/or tenderness around the injection site are all common possible side effects and will go away quickly.
All of the fillers on the market today are temporary except for fillers that use your own fat (see Fat Grafting). Filler durability is based on the product itself, where it is injected, and your own natural metabolism.
Products injected in areas of high activity (like areas around the mouth) will need maintenance sooner than fillers injected at other locations. Patients who have a very high metabolism also tend to need more frequent injections to maintain the volume.
Additionally, if you are not satisfied with your results, fillers can be dissolved faster with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. When hyaluronidase is injected into the filler area, it breaks down hyaluronic acid, allowing it to dissolve.
Fillers can require 10+ minutes to take effect (though the procedure itself may only take seconds to minutes). Some fillers are instantly visible, allowing you and your surgeon to examine the results in real time and even add more if desired.
